Porto Heli
Porto Heli isn't just a holiday destination for us, it's a feeling. By chance – or rather, through a small newspaper ad – Christoph's family found a plot of land in Porto Heli Ververonda over 35 years ago and shortly thereafter built their beautiful house. Since its completion, they have spent countless holidays there. It became a place of longing, Christoph's second home – a spot where you can smell life and hear the peace. And so it also became a place close to Jana's heart. It is precisely here that we wish to have our church wedding blessed.
Porto Heli lies on the east coast of the Argolis (Peloponnese) and is the summer hotspot for the international jet set. The large bay merges into small, sheltered coves. Framed by pine-covered hills, it resembles a giant swimming pool. To the north lies the harbor, to the south the Mandrakia with taverns, cafes and bars.
Today & Lifestyle
Since the 1960s, Porto Heli's unique location with its long coastline has attracted many wealthy individuals, leading to the construction of villas with private sea access. Simultaneously, the infrastructure has grown: hotels, restaurants, and café-bars now offer a fine selection of accommodations and culinary experiences. It's no wonder it's often referred to as the "Greek Riviera." Today, Porto Heli is considered a cosmopolitan seaside resort and a meeting place for boat owners, Greek high society, and homeowners from around the world. Even royalty appreciates the area: former Greek King Constantine II lived in Porto Heli for many years, and Dutch King Willem-Alexander also owns a villa here.

History & Archaeology
Traces of the area date back to early Greek times. The first settlement was located on the south side of the bay – opposite the present-day village. Towards the end of the 7th century BC, the powerful ancient city of Halieis arose, flourishing between 600 and 300 BC. Its acropolis was situated on Kastraki Hill; the city extended across the slopes and neighboring hills and was surrounded by a nearly 2 km long ring wall with towers. Within the walls, remains of at least 20 houses, workshops, and a religious center were discovered. When the sea level changed in late antiquity, the northern part of the city disappeared beneath the surface. Outside the walls lay a sanctuary dedicated to Apollo, dating from the 7th century BC – now also submerged in Porto Heli Bay.
